3 Ways Family Photo Journaling Helps Me as a Mom.
The last thing I want to do is add more to do’s to your life. Goodness knows us busy mamas are all stocked up on those. However, I do want to share with you how journaling and saving my photos in an album is time well spent and not for the obvious reasons of having those memories to look back on. Even more importantly it actually makes me more grateful and able to see the beauty in the chaos right here and now.
Let me share with you 3 examples:
- GRATITUDE. When I am sitting down and taking the time to sift through the images of our daily life I see things that I wouldn’t notice otherwise. I see the way my kids laugh hysterically when their dad races them around the living room and the way my kids do work together nicely at times. Taking the time to write about these things and see them creates not only a gratitude but it also cultivates in me eyes to see and appreciate these little miracles in the everyday.
- CENTERING. Photo Journaling for my family has a way of centering me. Looking through my photos has a way of reminding that my children are growing and the moments are fleeting. This process brings me back to that reality in the most wonderful way.
- SHARING. My kids LOVE looking through their photos and journaling cards in my project life albums, and their book pages in their printed photo books. I love watching them sit together and giggle at pictures of their baby faces and toddler antics. Seeing this helps me see the value in the time that I’m putting into this project and it also helps them to feel valued and a wonderful sense of family. It’s a beautiful synergy that builds their self esteem.
I sincerely hope this has been an encouragement for you and not a source of guilt. If you are feeling anxious about where to start READ THIS POST. It all starts with taking a few simple steps.
